Most of our printing is performed using 3d printers that are based on a traditional "bed slinger" technology (albeit very fast versions). That is, the print head moves left-right (the X axis) and up-down (the Z axis), but the print bed moves back-front (the Y axis) rather than the print head. This means that for certain movements there is quite alot of weight (the print bed) being rapidly moved around which is somewhat difficult to control and produce very accurate movements (it's not impossible but controlling momentum is difficult).

Core XY on the other hand relies on just moving the print head in the X and Y directions (forward-backward, left-right) and then moving the print bed up and down (which generally uses slower movements). This means that the print head can be moved at much higher speeds with much higher acceleration resulting in much faster print operations.

We have just put into production our first Core XY based printer and are already seeing a jump in print quality and print speed. This means we can produce more orders in a quicker time frame with a much higher quality and accuracey. It's better in every way.
